Claire Beddows

My love for dance started at the age of 3, I trained in various dance styles and found my passion for freestyle competitive dance at the age of 13 when I joined Millingtons Dance Academy in Liverpool, where I was trained and mentored by the renowned Mayes family, Iris, Ian & Derek Mayes. My competitive freestyle career was a successful one, winning numerous titles including Eurodance, The British for 5 consecutive year’s, European Championships and 3 time Disco Kid runner up, Carl Allan and Classique de danse nominee both amateur and professionally. My teaching career began in 1997.

Having taught the Freestyle branch of Millingtons for 4 years, in 2001, I opened my own school Freedom Dance. The school has been successful in amateur ADFP competitions and has seen pupils progress on to London colleges and successful professional careers. I have been an active, serving member of the Northern Area ADFP committee since 2011 and Northern Area Secretary since 2014
